Backup and Recovery. In today’s business environment, reliance on information processing systems continues to grow on an almost daily basis. Information systems, which once aided a company in doing business, have now become the business itself. As companies become more reliant on critical information systems, the potential disruption to the business due to a loss of data becomes even greater. There are many threats that organizations face today when it comes to the reliability and viability of their data. Logical corruption, or loss of data due to threats such as virus and software bugs, can be protected by ensuring that there is a viable copy of data available at all times. Performing regularly scheduled backups of the organizations data typically protects partially against logical types of data loss depending on the frequency of backup procedure. Other more serious threats may still exist resulting in unavailable systems and may be contributed to component failure or natural disaster that will affect the entire IT infrastructure (please see Hotsite and Disaster Recovery).

To ensure true continuity for core business operations, customers need to take a more pervasive and proactive approach to Information Technology related service continuity implementation. Commitment to continuity must be ingrained at every level of the organization and be reflected in the IT infrastructure and operations. Faced with these challenges, all customers should consider engaging a trusted vendor who can help them respond successfully to the new business imperative. Some small to mid size businesses currently have no recovery site to use as an alternate location for their IT business functions in the event of a disaster. Based on the number of computer systems and applications with critical business functions, and database volumes, problems would arise when attempting to restore services from tape backups after a disaster has occurred. However, for other more serious disaster cases like hardware failure and natural disaster currently these businesses do not have any alternatives (i.e. Disaster Recovery and Hotsite). Today’s businesses requirements demand a brief restoration period of critical business functions, and this brief restoration period prevents long outages of service that result in greater hardship to their business functions. NetEx Remote Backup, Disaster Recovery and Hotsite Services allow restoration of critical business functions within the predetermined time limits backed by a NetEx service level agreement.
NetEx Network Operation Center (NNOC) as a Customer Date Backup and Recovery Site.
NetEx maintains a facility ready to assume processing responsibility immediately after an outage of our client’s IT regular functions. the NOC contains equipment ready to assume all hardware, software, application functions and an influx of personnel to operate the equipment. The NOC therefore, begins total processing of critical IT functions in matter of minutes. The NetEx Head Quarter in Vienna, Virginia is a state-of-the-art facility constructed specifically for the mission-critical environment. The building that houses the NOC has (24 X 7) surveillance and administered either locally or remotely. The NOC is a restricted access area that requires the appropriate Cardkey and Biometrics to gain entry. The NOC has a separate zone alarm with cellular backup. Air conditioning is maintained by separate climate control and backup AC. All Equipment is protected from spikes, power surges, and losses of power by redundant power supply systems backup. In the event of a major power outage, auxiliary power is provided via an external natural gas-powered generator, the NOC is equipped by Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). The NOC is also fireproof equipped with an FM-200 fire suppression mechanism. The Staff have been trained to act upon a disaster in a professional and timely manner. The secret to building an effective disaster recovery solution is to ensure that the cost of the protection does not exceed the value of the data being protected.
In reality, businesses that depend on System and Data Availability must not suffer from System Outages for longer than just a couple of hours. It should be obvious that setting up a redundant IT structure comes at a cheaper price than the risk of even a short outage. This is especially true when considering the relatively low prices of NetEx Custom Backup and Recovery solutions in comparison to a high price tag for unavailability and losing customers and reputation. NetEx Custom Data Recovery solution ensures that the critical customer’s System, Data and Internet operations will be available in a predetermined time set by customer.
NetEx reliability is achieved by facilities and Network Operation Center (NOC) that are data center grade with regard to Staff, redundant power, Physical and Logical Security, environment and Redundant Telecommunication.
A complete disaster recovery solution is not delivered by any one technology, service or vendor but rather a culmination of products that are implemented in order to provide the needed return to operation of an Application or a System. When analyzing a disaster recovery solution many components must be implemented in a customized way in order to guarantee application and system availability. NetEx Custom Disaster Recovery Solution is addressing this challenge. Our Custom solution will fit your Information Technology environment and will save you money and gives you piece of mind.
NetEx Backup and Recovery Site is a building already equipped with the processing capability and other services needed in order to immediately recover from even a complete site outage. The site is normally equipped and configured similar to our client site. NetEx will replicate information at frequent intervals daily (preferably at times that network utilization is not high) to its NOC which would become operational (some if not most applications will be available in less than 3 hours) in the event of a disaster.
Occasionally, service interruptions may occur. However, in addition to the Vienna NOC, NetEx also maintains a backup site for redundancy purposes in Falls Church, Virginia.
NetEx Security team is responsible for ensuring that there is proper security for all hardware, software, applications, documentation, data and information. NetEx Backup and Recovery Site complies with the following requirements for physical and logical security:
Physical 1. Surveillance 2. Biometrics 3. Cardkey entry 4. Alarm systems 5. Force entry proof 6. Fireproof
Logical 7. Intrusion Detection Systems 8. Intrusion Prevention Systems 9. Firewalls 10. Anti Spy Software 11. Antivirus software 12. Access Control Mechanism 13. Authentications 14. Spam Protection 15. Network Security Scanners 16. VPN 17. Secure Internet Protocol
Backup and Recovery Policies A backup policy is designed to assist system administrators on what to backup, how often to backup, and how backups are handled and stored. Having a backup policy in place will assist in ensuring that all necessary data is backed up in an accurate and timely fashion, are retained for a sufficient amount of time, and are accessible in a timely manner.
Having accurate backups is a critical factor for every IT department. The backup policy will at a minimum contain steps and procedures on:
NetEx can remotely backup your entire network to our NOC and restore at time of disaster. Also, we can manage your backup system remotely providing you piece of mind. Our system and procedure at our NOC make it possible for a headache free restore in minimal time. Please see Disaster Recovery and Hotsite document for other solutions related to disaster recovery.
